League Match played at Bath Lane
Portchester U13s (4pts) 63 for 8 (20 ov) lost to Fareham & Crofton B U13s (17pts) 64 for 6 (15.3 ov)
Fareham & Crofton B U13s won by 4 wickets
Playing on grass for the first time, the U13s struggled on a slow, wet wicket at Bath Lane due to the overnight rain.
Choosing to bat first, the Portchester innings never got going with nobody getting past 6 and not a single boundary hit. Extras was our best player on the day with 34 to help us to a total of 63 for 8 from our 20 overs.
Fareham chased the total down for the loss of 6 wickets with 5 overs to spare, despite the efforts of Ash Zee (4 overs, 1 maiden, 2 for 16) and particularly Stan Rolls who bowled very well to record figures of 3 for 9 off his 4 overs. Opener T. Brooks got Fareham off to a good start with 20 and A. Martins saw them home in the 15th over with 29*.
So a disappointing batting performance by the U13s, but an understandable given the alien conditions. Hopefully we will learn from our mistakes from this match and put improve for our next game on a grass wicket.
