League Match played at Burridge

Portchester U13s 62 for 6 (20 ov) lost to Burridge U13s 66 for 6 (15.2 ov)

Burridge U13s won by 4 wickets

The visit to Burridge found the Colts playing their second match on a grass wicket.

Again the batsmen struggled with only Harry Robbins (11) and Matt Crouch with a run a ball 20* reaching double figures. Not for the first time, extras were our top score with 38, which highlights how important it is to bowl straight in these games. Our final total was 82 for 4 – around 20 runs short of a competitive total with many singles missed and we only managed to hit 3 fours off the bat despite the small boundaries.

In reply Burridge raced to 26 of the first 4 overs, having already hit 3 boundaries. However after Stan Rolls (3 overs 17 for 1) made the breakthrough we started to make inroads and at some stage it looked like we could bowl Burridge out. No.5 B. Cotterell however held things together with 19, including a 6 and was supported by F. Colmer who saw his side home in the 16th over with 13*. Burridge finished on 83 for 6. Matt was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 14 off his 4 overs, George Summers also picked up a wicket and another fell to a run out.

A good fielding and bowling display, with 18 extras conceded. Just not enough runs though on a decent wicket and small outfield. In particular the running was poor, which is an area we will look to improved upon for the next match.
