This was an excellent performance by the U13s and our first win on a grass wicket.
Batting first they put on 91 for 9 with a fine captain’s innings of 28 by Stan Rolls. Ably assisted by knocks of 17 by Matt Crouch and Steven Faulkner. The running between the wickets was a vast improvement on previous weeks.
In reply Rowner started well, largely due to a well played 30* by opener R. Griffith’s. After being very handily place at the half way stage on 36 for 0, their innings faded towards the end after Griffith’s mandatory retirement. Rowner eventually finished on 67 for 6. Stan Rolls (4 overs, 1 maiden, 2 for 8) pegged them back in the middle overs and Dan Rayson picked up 3 for 11 from his 4 to seal the win for Portchester. In his only over and the final one of the match, Josh Hillard bowled a wicket maiden.
