Regional Division 4 South East League Match played at Privett Park
Portchester III (9pts) 151 all out lost to Denmead II (24pts) 239 for 8
Denmead II won by 88 runs
The absence of Captain David Pitcher allowed for Ian Docker to lead a nine man team through the “Age of Revolution”.
Denmead won the toss and elected to bat and looked to be running towards a massive score until the introduction of the “Jiggery Pokery ” of John Buckle 2/41 and Derek Kelly 2/51. Harry Robbins claimed his first league wickets 2/21. Denmead finished on 239 for 8. Liam Grove 64.
The teams retired to the pavilion to partake of an excellent spread sufficient to satisfy “The Test Match Special Team”.
The Jeal brothers opened soon finding ” The Sweet Spot” Ian 68, Jason 44. Ian Docker 23 not out. Jonathon Gould came in as the light went to be “The Night Watchman” but regrettably fell to John Cook 3/7. 151 all out. Apologies to The Duckworth Lewis Method.
Was skipper really at a wedding or ” Meeting Mr Miandad”

Regional Division 4 South East League Match played at Privett Park
Portchester III (5pts) 120 all out lost to Bedhampton III (20pts) 229 for 2
Fareham & Crofton IV won by 109 runs
After last week’s disaster with the bat several changes were made & coming back into the fold from retirement were Mike Osmond & the Jeal brothers. Also skip had to work but turned up about 3:20. Docker went out to toss up but lost it&had to field first. Fareham made a decent start & then went onto make 229-2.
When portchester batted with a strong batting line up there was a lot of hope of making a decent effort. Mr Osmond looked quite safe out in the middle until he got a beamer in the face, but jason was playing with much freedom. Then mike got bowled & this brought the Jeal bros together & quick runs were had until Jason got bowled for a quick 18. Skip came in & he & Ian Jeal got the score to 50 odd runs then a collapse happened & we were 81-7. Then two JBs added some good runs & we were all out for 120.
Batting: J Biggs 30*, I Jeal 21, J Jeal 19

Regional Division 4 South East League Match played at Drayton Park
Portchester III (4pts) 75 all out lost to Portsmouth Community (24 pts) 251 for 8
Well after having 11 players last week we went back to the old routine of having 9 players yet again.
Skip lost the toss for the first time this season & Portsmouth Community decided to bat. Gavin Randall scored 119 of their 251-8,but the real story was at 170-1 they lost 7 wickets for 80 runs. thanks mainly due to Mr Buckle who bagged 5 wickets for 38 runs off his 10 overs. I have to mention young Daniel Rayson who bowled for the first time & got the wicket of Mr Randall.
Then Portchester batted & started distasterly & were reduced to 15 for 3 wickets, then we rallied a bit thanks to Biggsy, Skip & young Sam Appleby & we were finally all out for a paltry 75 runs.

Regional Division 4 South East League Match played at Privett Park
Portchester III (4pts) 86 all out lost to Purbrook IV (22 pts) 87 for 4
Well the 3rd team started this game with all 11 players for the first time this season (quite amazing really). Also after last weeks showing we were quite optimistic for this game.
Skip won the toss again so decided to bat first with the return of Docker man. Dkip& Docker started quite well until skip misjudged the pace of the pitch & holed out to extra cover. Then young Crouchie came in & out easily, but then came in Biggsy who marshalled the innings of the team. Docker & Biggsy saw us through to 50 but then Docker was bowled & a mini collapse created. Only young Sam Appleby got any runs (8) & we were all out for 86.
So purbrook started to bat & were soon reduced to 25-4 after 10 overs with Stan & Biggsy doing the damage, then tea was taken much to the relief of Purbrook. After tea their player Baijo hit 45 runs in 7 overs & the game was lost.
Purbrook IV won by 6 wickets
Batting: J Biggs 21, I Docker 19
Bowling: S Rolls 3/14
