NEW HAMPSHIRE LEAGUE RULES

The Hampshire League AGM approved the change to the start time for County One games to 1 pm. All first team games are now of 50 overs per team.

In all Hampshire League matches bowlers are now restricted to a maximum of 10 overs per match.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

Annual subscriptions are now overdue. Just a reminder £100 for Senior Members and £ 20 for under 18’s. Please make cheques payable to Portchester Cricket Club.

GROUND NEWS

The Cabin Floor has been repaired by Derek Kelly.

The damage to the windows and door is to be covered by the schools insurance.
A working party will be held probably over the Easter period to paint inside and outside of the cabin this work will be undertaken as part of the Nat West Cricket Force initiative. So all those players you have seen wearing the tee shirt, you now know how they got it.

The square is looking good and rolling of the square will start in the next few weeks.
The undergrowth at the bottom of the field requires clearing again.

All 3rd eleven home matches have been confirmed at Privett Park in Gosport.

CLUB KIT

Designs for the new club clothing and leisure wear have been finalized. Those of you who have provided e mail addresses should have received details from Curtis Locke. Please send your orders through to Curtis. The first order will be placed on 31st March to ensure delivery before the start of the season. Details are also on the club website.

COLTS

The club have again had the under 13 team accepted into the South East Hants Cricket League, match details will be published on the club website and fixture cards. It is regretted that numbers have been insufficient to field more than one colt’s league team. A number of last seasons colt’s team featured in the 3rd team and is anticipated with the progress they have made will become regulars in that team.

Julie Falconer (Stephens mum) has been very pro-active in the last few weeks in helping promote the club around local schools introducing a number of new colts (and fathers) to nets. So we are hopeful the club will be a stronger position.

INDOOR LEAGUE

The 2 senior teams have been active indoors with the A team scoring an emphatic win over local rivals Fareham. The B team has featured in recent matches with Josh Young captaining the team.

The under 13’s have performed well and been excellent ambassadors for the club in this their first season in the league.

TOUR

Phil Vincent continues to work on the fixtures for the club tour. Accommodation has been booked at the Ibis Hotel in Centre of Bristol.

This season we have 2 senior teams and a colt’s team playing indoors on a Sunday. Occasionally the 2nd team has struggled for numbers so please let Paul Hungerford or Craig Stainton know if you are available.
The colts have performed well in their matches against some of the more experienced teams in the league.

Phil Vincent is currently corresponding with clubs in the Bristol area; it is unlikely that clubs will make a decision on their matches until January.

Most of you by now should have received November’s Newsletter either by post or email. However if you haven’t, please read it below or download here.

Christmas Night Out

Saturday 15th December meet at Lloyds Bar Port Solent at 7:30 for a drink followed by a curry.

2nd Team Promotion

Chairmans message :-
I would like to congratulate Charlie and all the players who contributed to the 2nd team being promoted into the Hampshire League South 1 for the 2008 season. This is the highest level that the 2nd team of the club will have played in, and a massive achievement for everyone associated with it.
Everyone who thinks that they maybe a member of the side in 2008, should however look at the other teams that will make up this division. You will see that there is a lot more travelling and a lot of away games will mean earlier starts. It would be helpful to everyone if you talk to Charlie about availability earlier rather than later so that he can start to plan for the season. Listed are the teams in this division for next year : Read the rest of this entry »
